Most fallen-angel art stops at mournful. Mine mostly does not. The center of this gallery is wrath: pale figures in ornate black-and-blue armor worked with filigree, hair burning up into blue flame, eyes gone white-hot, fire streaming from both open hands and racing through every seam of the plate. Wings built from ember-lit filaments spread wide enough to leave the frame. Some are caught mid war cry with the mouth open and the shout almost audible, deep in the caverns below or under a heavenly city going up in flames. There are quieter ones too — an angel with black feathered wings folded close in an overgrown garden, reaching for a white rose — and they are there on purpose, because the contrast is what makes the loud ones land.
