Five courts, one for each season, and the season is not just the background – it is in the wings, the skin, the light and the palette all at once. Spring runs pink and green with everything still opening. Summer is gold and amber and slightly too warm. Autumn goes copper and burgundy with the light already lower. Winter is ice and silver and very quiet. And the Twilight court is violet and midnight, which is where the fae stop being charming. I built them human-scale rather than thumb-sized, because these are portraits, and because a fairy who can look you in the eye is a different proposition entirely.
