In the temple myths of South and Southeast Asia the nagas guard water, shrines and hidden treasure, and this is my collection of the women of that people. Each frame is a different naga woman: a human face, arms and figure, and from the waist down one long serpent tail in jade green, violet, silver, bronze or copper-red scales. She is never a woman wearing a snake – the tail is her. Coiled around a broken pillar in a flooded temple under shafts of light, rising from a lotus pool in pink dawn mist, gliding past herons in a river delta, resting among the roots of a banyan tree hung with temple bells, or enthroned under a cobra hood between burning braziers. Gold collars, silk wraps and jeweled crowns. Ancient, regal and watchful. Created by Jeff Dupler, using the latest in AI technology.
