Tokyo runs on two clocks and this gallery uses both. The first is the rooftop hour – a parapet somewhere above the low buildings, Tokyo Tower a red lattice cut into an orange sky, a young man sitting on the ledge in an open silk shirt with his sleeves pushed back, smiling into the last of it. The second is what happens after the sun goes: down at street level in Shibuya, lit billboards stacked behind him, the color turning hard blue and red, the smile gone and the look direct. Deep red, hot pink, navy, over black leather trousers with gold chains at the throat. It is the cool end of the Around the World album and the only city so far that changes its mind halfway through.
