Magazine Covers styles male models as cover stars: high-end editorial light, a bold masthead across the top, and the confidence of a man who knows he sold the issue.

There are two mastheads so far, each with its own kind of model, both part of the Beautiful Men album.

What is inside

Two galleries, 484 images in all.

• TWINKS Magazine Covers: young male models as cover stars, shot in high-end editorial light with a real printed-cover finish, 385 images.
• HANDSOME Magazine Covers: distinguished, bearded male models under the HANDSOME masthead, 99 images.

Each cover is built the way a real one works. A bold condensed masthead runs across the top with its lower edge tucked behind the model’s hair and shoulders, the month and year sit small on the right, and a barcode waits in the corner. Behind the type it is pure fashion photography: shallow depth of field, polished light and a model who knows the camera is there.

The two galleries make a natural pair, one young and one distinguished, and both cover a wide range of faces, races and skin tones. Browse them side by side and you will see how much the masthead changes the mood of a portrait.

The settings change from issue to issue too: a photo studio with its lights in frame, greenhouse glass, a sweeping stone staircase, a city rooftop at dusk. Every cover carries its own issue date, so the collection reads like years of back issues pulled from the same shelf.
