Auravolta is a story, not a series of poses. Sixteen scenes follow one young woman across San Francisco and Berkeley: airborne over the Bay Bridge at blue hour, palms down on a rain-slicked Market Street with lightning crawling across the asphalt, on one knee in an alley with the suit torn open and the gold gone ashen, crying on the wet steps of the Doe Library, laughing through Sather Gate with a backpack on one shoulder. The power has its own grammar. Gold veins at rest, gold arcs when she charges, blue-white discharge only when it leaves her body. The last scene has no glow at all, which is the point of the whole arc. Shot as film would be shot, on Cinestill and Portra, in anamorphic and 85mm.
