Introducing our Backgrounds Art Collection

The Backgrounds collection is art made to sit behind something else: your desktop, your phone, a video call, a stream, a product shot, a book cover or a print on the wall. Every image is rendered at full UHD, so it holds up whether it fills a 4K monitor or gets cropped into a tall phone wallpaper.

It is also one of the easiest places on the site to start. You do not need a reason to like a gothic cathedral full of light or a wolf standing in the snow. You just need somewhere to put it.

What is inside

The collection is split into four albums, each with its own mood.

• Abstract Backgrounds: surface and substance with no subject at all. Liquids in motion, metallic objects, modern artistic form, technology grids and the elements. These are the ones designers reach for, because they never compete with text.
• Gothic Backgrounds: place and atmosphere. Forgotten ruins, gothic cathedrals, haunted graveyards wrapped in fog and spider webs, a heavenly city, liquid architecture and the Golden City balcony view.
• Natural World: wildlife in its own habitat, with the light and the surroundings matched to the animal. On land, big cats, elephants and wolves. In the water, sharks, whales and squid.
• Nature Backgrounds: living texture up close in Mother Nature, with forest canopy from above, moss, bark and fern in dappled light.

How people use them

• Desktop and phone wallpaper. The wide frames suit monitors and TVs; crop any of them tall for a phone lock screen.
• Video calls and streaming. A cathedral or a quiet forest reads far better behind you than a blurred kitchen, and the abstract sets make clean overlays.
• Design work. Slides, social graphics, invitations, album and book covers, product mockups.
• Print. Members download the full-size files, which are made for printing large.

Every gallery can be browsed for free. Members get the full-size downloads, and there are complete galleries given away free as well if you want to start there. A seasonal set is also on the way for October, just in time for Halloween.
